On Oct 16th, myself from Value Stock Guide and Joshua Williams from PortfoliosWithPurpose.org will be at American Association of Individual Investors meeting in Farmington Hills, MI. This meeting is open to public and if you are in the area you are welcome to join us.
Farmington Hills Library Auditorium
32737 West Twelve Mile Road
Farmington Hills, Michigan 48334
Wednesday – October 16th, 2013
10:30am – 12:30pm
Shailesh Kumar – Founder of ValueStockGuide.com. University of Michigan Business School MBA and erstwhile Management Consultant. I will be talking about Risk and Making Rational Investment Decisions
Joshua Williams – Chief Operating Officer of Portfolios with Purpose. PwP is an annual fantasy stock selection competition in which participants compete on behalf of their favorite charities. PwP unites the general public with some of the world’s most renowned investors in an effort to bring global awareness to impactful philanthropic causes. Past participants in the 2013 edition Master Class have included such investors as Joel Greenblatt, David Einhorn, Leon Cooperman, Dan Loeb, Rich Pzena and many others. Joshua will be talking about the organization and charitable investing as well as the launch of 2014 Edition of the competition (more information on the 2014 contest will be posted here when available). This is a great opportunity for regular investors to match skills with well known professionals and benefit the charity of their own choosing. Since this is a mock stock market game, no money is being risked.
Value Investing Meetup
I am also organizing a Meetup dedicated to Value Investing. If you are in the South East Michigan area, this is the Meetup you want to attend. The inaugural meeting is set for this Saturday, although since the announcement does not go out until Friday, whoever shows up will have the opportunity to set the agenda for the rest of the meetings . Within reason, of course.
Sign up is free and it can all be done on the Meetup site. Here is the link to the meetup group that you will want to join.
If you want to start a similar meetup in your city, send me an email and we can figure this out (I am pretty new to organizing meetups myself, having only attended in the past).
